How to Prepare for Punjab Medical Entrance Test?

The Punjab Medical Entrance test is basically for those who would like to secure admission into MBBS, BDS, BAMS and BHMS courses in all medical, dental and homoeopathic institutes at Punjab. The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences conducts the PMET exam each year. It is a must to have a domicile of Punjab to apply. They must have completed higher secondary exam or equivalent from the recognized board or institute. A minimum of 50% marks is required in physics, chemistry and biology subjects. Even those who have appeared for higher secondary final exam can also apply for this test. Normally, the Entrance Exam will be scheduled in the middle of June.

Structure of the PMET Exam

Candidates need to be prepared for 200 multiple choice objective questions. There are four choices to select the correct answer. The duration will be of 150 minutes. The questions are from physics, chemistry and biology subjects. The physics and chemistry subject carry 50 questions and biology subject carries 100 questions. Each correct answer will get 4 marks. For each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted.

Syllabus of PMET exam

The physics subject covers the syllabus of electromagnetic induction, Bohr model of the atom, Elementary ideas of conductor, wave nature of light, Electric current, reflection, periodic motion, Units and dimensions, Rigid body rotation and conservation of its momentum, Universal law of gravitation, work energy and power, static and kinetic friction, motion in two dimensions etc.

The chemistry subject covers the syllabus of Solid state, chemical analysis, surface chemistry, chemical kinetic, Thermo chemistry and Thermodynamics, co-ordination compounds, Electrochemistry, comparative study of elements, nuclear chemistry, Structure of Atom, Nomenclature, alcohols and phenols, etc.

The Biology subject covers the syllabus of Mendel’s Law of inheritance, Structural organization of cells, Mineral nutrition, Five Kingdom classification, Role of plants in human welfare, dissimilarity of  prokaryote and Eukaryote, etc.

Study Plan for PMET exam

Time management is very important for exam preparation and writing the test. The candidate should allocate a specific time schedule for each subject. They must start their preparation earlier so that they will get more time for revision and practicing mock tests.
