Visvesvaraya Technological University is one of the well-known Technological Universities in India offering PG courses in 66 branches and UG courses in 27 branches. Every year an average of about 45000 students are admitted for UG courses while about 7500 students are admitted for PG courses.

The colleges affiliated to this university is spread over the whole state of Karnataka and due to this vast geographical jurisdiction, the university has set up four regional offices at Belgaum, Gulbarga, Mysore and Bangalore apart from the main office at Belgaum. The university also includes E-Learning center and Bosch Rexroth Center. In addition to this, the university has also ideas to set up regional campus at Gulbarga, Mysore and Bangalore. Visvesvaraya Technological University has signed Memorandum of Understanding with different organizations like Microsoft, Ingersoll-Rand (India) Ltd, INTEL Asia Electronics Inc., and IBM and these organizations are helpful to the university in several ways like conducting workshops for teachers, providing training to faculty members of the university and the organizations are also offering software programs to the university at subsidized rate.

So far, more than 150 teachers were provided training by Microsoft and Intel has also provided training to teachers of engineering colleges affiliated to the university. The technological growth of the overall state of Karnataka can also be assured by the MOU signed with these organizations. Moreover, several industries are showing interest in participating in the curricular activities organized by Visvesvaraya Technological University.
