Admission to Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing in National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences is based on the national level entrance exam, conducted by the institute. Graduation in Nursing with a minimum of 55 % marks in aggregate is the minimum eligibility for the course. Duration of the course is two years.

Eligibility Criterion for M.Sc in Psychiatric Nursing

Candidates who seek admission are required to be a Registered Nurse and Midwife with any State Nursing Registration Council. They should have completed Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or post basic B.Sc Nursing with a minimum of 55 % marks in aggregate from any institute recognized by Indian Nursing Council. Candidates need to have a minimum of one year experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing in relevant field at the time of admission. Candidates should be medically fit. Upper age limit of the candidates is 32 years at the time of admission.  Candidates belonging to reserved categories can seek a relaxation of maximum 5 years as per the norms issued by government of India.

Admission Procedure for M.Sc in Psychiatric Nursing

Admission to the course is based on the scores obtained by the candidate in the national level entrance exam conducted by the institute. The entrance test will be conducted online in the month of February every year.  There will be objective type questions in the entrance examinations. Candidates can expect questions from topics such as neurology, psychiatry, neuro ophthalmology, and neuro anatomy and neuro pharmacology. Candidates can visit the official website of the institution for a mock test of the entrance exam.  The exam is conducted in selected cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata and Bhopal.

Application Procedure for M.Sc in Psychiatric Nursing

Candidates are required to download the admission application form from the official website of National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. Application fees is Rs. 1000/-. Candidates belonging to reserved category are required to pay Rs. 750/-. Candidates can make the payment by taking a demand draft in favor of “The Director, NIMHANS”, payable at Bangalore. Candidates can choose the centre of examination while filling up the application form. Fully filled in application form along with demand draft and supporting documents should be sent to “The Registrar, NIMHANS, Hosur Road, Bangalore – 560 029” within stipulated time. Late and incomplete applications will be rejected without intimation. Selected candidates will be sent call letter for entrance examination.
