Candidates from medical and non medical fields are eligible for M.Phil courses in NIMHANS. Eligible candidates must successfully clear an online entrance test held at NIMHANS for getting shortlisted. Admission is purely based on the score obtained in the online entrance test.

Eligibility for M.Phil courses in NIMHANS

Master of Philosophy in Psychiatric Social Work - Those having master’s degree in social work can apply for Master of Philosophy in Psychiatric Social Work.

Master of Philosophy in Biophysics - Candidates with master’s degree in any of the following subjects are eligible to apply.

  • Life Science
  • Biochemistry
  • Biotechnology
  • Biophysics
  • Physiology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Zoology

Those with MBBS/B.Tech degree in Biotechnology or Electronics or Computer Science are also eligible.

Master of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology - Eligible candidate must be a master degree holder in

  • Applied Psychology

Master of Philosophy in Neurosciences - MBBS/Engineering graduates in streams of

Admission process for M.Phil courses in NIMHANS

NIMHANS conducts an online entrance test for the selection process. This objective type test must be completed with in time period of 90 minutes. Total questions for the test will be 100. Candidates who can score 50% marks in online entrance test are considered for the next level that is counseling process. Counseling process is done so as to ascertain the preferred subject of the candidate.  Verification of necessary documents is carried out in this session. Those who successfully get through all these sections can seek admission to the course.

Applications for the online entrance test can be submitted through the official website of NIMHANS. Application fee for attending the test is Rs. 1500/-. Fee can be paid in the form of DD through any of the nationalized banks, drawn in favor of Director, NIMHANS. After submitting the application through online method, an abstract of the same must be send to the official address of NIMHANS. This must be accompanied by recent passport size photograph, DD, copies of mark lists, etc.
