Placement process in IIT, Roorkee is carried out through a three phase process, Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III. Phase I includes sending invitation regarding job annexure and relevant information to various companies/organizations through email or post. Phase II comprise the allotment of date by the placement officer to the company. By Phase III the company visit the campus for conducting recruitment process. Final results will be announced after the completion of placement procedure.

Placement Procedure of IIT, Roorkee

The placement process in IIT, Roorkee is carried out in three phases, Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III.

Phase I

Phase I includes sending invitation regarding job annexure and relevant information to various companies/organizations through email or post. The companies/organizations send back the annexure after filling all details regarding the job profiles they supposed to offer. These details are sent to the address of the Training and Placement Officer, IIT, Roorkee and he made it available to the students online. A date for pre-placement is decided by the Training and placement officer and the company. This date is notified to students after confirmation. The companies are also allowed to conduct a selection for summer internships. These internships are usually conducted for pre final year students.

Phase II

Phase II comprise the allotment of date by the placement officer to the company. It is based on the ranks acquired by the students. The company follow certain parameters for the purpose of ranking which include growth prospects, job profile, package offered by the company, past recruitment record of IIT Roorkee and students feedback about the company. The companies are allowed either to confirm or negotiate the dates allotted by the placement cell. Online registration of willingness of the students shall be done afterwards. The companies will get resumes of interested candidates for the purpose of short listing. Then they mail the list to the placement cell before the date of campus selection.

Phase III

Phase III consists of the visit to the campus by the companies on prescribed dates in order to conduct written/aptitude/technical test, personal interview, and group discussion. Video conferencing facilities are also available if any particular company cannot reach IIT Roorkee campus. The companies are required to furnish the selected students final list after the completion of placement procedure. The selected students may or may not be allowed for further interviews as per the policies of Institute.

Placement Policy

The companies are provided with finalized schedules and slots in order to conduct recruitment process without any complications. The companies need to complete recruitment process within one day. Final result should be announced after the completion of procedure but before company’s departure from college campus. If more than one company is in the campus on allotted date they will be asked to give an ‘On the Spot Offer’ or ‘End of the Day Offer’. Coordinator and Professor of IIT Roorkee Training and Placement office can take final decision related to discrepancy. The UG students are expected to join after the second week of June 2013 and PG students are expected to join after the second week of July 2013. All correspondence related to offer letters or other matters to students are in lieu with the Training and Placement office IIT Roorkee.
