M.DS in Orthodontics
The course of Orthodontics at the master level is a dental area course that deals in with the health and medicine category. The course relates to pedagogic anatomy, growth and development of skull, facial skeleton, dentition and occlusion, malocclusion, preventive and interceptive orthodontics. The course has a huge demand in India as the career prospects associated with it is indeed very lucrative. The course also relates to prenatal counseling about proper oral hygiene for mother and postnatal care of the child.
Eligibility Criteria:
The admission to MDS courses are generally based on an entrance test. The student should have passed his/ her BDS degree i.e., Bachelor of Dental Surgery to be eligible for MDS in Orthodontics. The candidates that are having two to three years of job experience are given privilege during the final admission.
Course Outlook:
MDS i.e., Master of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics is a post graduation course. The course is of three year full time duration.
Job Prospects:
After completing MDS in Orthodontics one can work in the government as well in the private dental hospitals. One can also opt for the post of lecturer in Orthodontics department in various institutes. They can also opt for the research institutes and medical colleges as researchers. They can also apply for the job in medical services of the army, navy, air force, under the ministry of defense.
