The Mechatronics engineering is completely a new field that is emerging fast. There are many technological advancements emerging in this field of mechatronics engineering which has resulted in opting this as a fast career option among many of the individuals. This is a completely different field. This field of engineering includes many other streams of engineering on a whole such as computer engineering, electronics, systems engineering, control and design engineering etc.

The nature of job involved in this field is really very complex. A well qualified and experienced mechatronics engineer is in great demand in the present job market. This is a concept which involves lot of experimental studies which are done by the candidates applying both the theoretical as well as the practical knowledge in this area.

Course Outlook

There are many diploma, graduate as well as post graduate courses in this area. The candidates have to attend the engineering entrance examination to secure the admission for the course of mechatronics. The candidates have to complete the 12th class with science as their major subject to apply for this course. They also need to secure around 50% marks in the graduation level to attend this exam. The candidates can also opt for the post graduation course in the same subject area. The candidates should attend the GATE exam, to secure admission for the post graduation course. This will enhance the job opportunities for the candidates.

Scope of Mechatronics Engineering

There is immense scope for this course of mechatronics engineering in the present scenario. This is a stream of engineering which has high scope in various industrial applications. The main advantage after the completion of this course is that one can not only work in the field of mechatronics, but has equal opportunities in the other areas such as electrical, systems, computer engineering etc. This is a field which can be applied in many of the areas –

  • Transportation and Vehicle Systems
  • Telecommunication and Data Communication Networks
  • Power Devices
  • Medical Mechatronics systems
  • Heavy Engineering and Manufacturing Systems
  • Energy Devices
  • Consumer Products
  • Computer Techniques in Medical, Bio imaging and Technology Systems
  • Computer Aided Design
  • Computer Aided and Integrated Manufacturing Devices and Systems
  • Biomedical Systems

When we talk about the job opportunities in this field, the candidates can opt for jobs both in the government as well as the private sector. There are immense job opportunities in this field such as –

  • Manufacturing Industry
  • Robotics
  • Aerospace
  • Industrial automation
  • Electronics
  • Defense
  • Bio medical system
  • Oil and Gas industry
  • Computer industry

Many of the companies look in for the experienced graduates and they hire freshers as well. Research is an important area where in the candidates can get engaged after completing this course. The candidates who opt for the post graduation in this field can get in to the academics field in this area. The role of mechatronics engineering has become an indispensable factor in the engineering industry as a whole.

    sir
is there a gate exam for mechatronics engineering.or should we have to prepare for this exam in any one side of mechanical or ece?

    Dear Sir,
Would you tell me about whether the TCS, Infosys, CTS, etc employ the M.Tech.s in Mechatronics? Should the M.Tech.s in Mechatronics only search for jobs offline? What is the scope of the Mechatronics engineers at the CSIR labs? Do these labs employ them if they use the labs as students? Also describe their minimum and maximum pay packages. I also want to know about the scope of the M.Tech.s in Mechatronics in India. Is Mechatronics considered in parallel with CSE, ECE, etc? Which industries do prefer to offer jobs to the M.Tech.s in Mechatronics? I am eagerly looking forward to your kind reply.
    Thank you.
