IFS or Indian Forest Services examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission of India, who is responsible for all the recruitments under Indian Forestry Department. The willing candidates need to sit for two compulsory papers i.e. General English and General Knowledge Papers and two optional subjects (two papers from both subjects). For optional subjects candidates have 13 choices which are Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, Physics, Zoology, Statistics, Botany, Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, forestry, Mechanical Engineering, Geology and Chemistry.

The Agriculture Engineering Paper I question paper has 8 questions in total and equal weightage is given to each and every question. The paper has two parts, Part A and Part B, and each part has 4 questions. The candidates need to attempt 5 questions from these 8 questions. Each part has one compulsory question and the rest 3 questions are to be answered from out of rest of the questions by attempting at least 1 question both from Part A and part B. The levels of the questions which are set in the examination are same as that of the Bachelor’s degree. There will be no practical examination for this subject and in fact there is no practical examination for any of the subjects.
