Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur
The Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology in Kanpur was formed in the year 1975 as a result of step by step rising from a small school back in the year 1983. It was a merger actually between two colleges that includes the Uttar Pradesh College of veterinary science and animal husbandry in Mathura & Erstwhile govt. Agriculture College in Kanpur.
The university is situated at a distance of 8.4 km from Kanpur in North east direction.
The university offers Graduate, Post graduate courses and an option for research as well. In graduate course it offer B. tech. in basically 4 departments which include Agricultural Engineering, Computer science and engineering, Electronics and Communication engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Apart from these the undergraduate courses include B. Sc. in Forestry, B.Sc. Horticulture and B.Sc. Hons in agriculture. For the post graduate course the university offers M.Sc. in 16 various areas, MBA & PhD in 16 areas.
The research at the university level is divided into basically 4 sections which are Economic Botanist for Oilseed, Legumes and Rabi Cereals (in 1904). The university has released various disease resistant crops which are more than 150 in number.
The university library is an old library, built back in the year 1907 renamed as institute of agriculture library in 1967 and finally was made the central library of university in 1975.The library constitutes more than 64000 books, many journals, 4481 research periodicals. The university gives hostel facilities also for the students which include 8 boys hostels and 2 girls hostels.
For admission to the University for Various Courses the students are required to fill up an admission form for the preferred course or they can visit the university website for the same. The university conducts a exam as the entrance test for the students which the students are required to clear for seeking admission in Chandra Shekhar Azad University.
