Profile:

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences shortly called as TISS, a deemed university, was formed in 1936. TISS is offered with monetary support by the UGC of the Government of India. TISS offers excellent academic environment and opportunity to scholars in Social Sciences and allied disciplines. The institute offers 16 masters’ programmes in Social Work disciplines. TISS shapes the plans, policy & programme formulation, and encourages critical re-thinking & development of people-centered involvements through its excellent teaching, research and field action. TISS is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) to work as a collaborating Centre for Health, Policy Research and Training. It also runs UNAIDS Centre for Behavioral Research on HIV/AIDS. A field action project of TISS called “The Special Cell for Women and Children” empowers the survivors of domestic violence.
