Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya with the cooperation of Dr Annie Besant, under the Parliamentary legislation - B.H.U. Act 1915. The university made excellent remarks in both teaching and research with 2 campuses, 3 institutes, 4 interdisciplinary schools and 4 advanced centers. The university is well known at the national and international levels. The university’s Rajiv Gandhi South Campus at Barkachha is growing as a center of excellence to provide education, training and entrepreneurship development skills not only to the youth and women, but also to backward society people of Mirzapur and districts of Uttar Pradesh, Northern Madhya Pradesh and Western Bihar.
