Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar
The university is located in the state of Gujarat in India. It was established in the year 1955 by Bhaikaka. The university is named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who was an independence leader. Initially it was a rural University but now it has diversified itself in various fields and has a motto of “Excellence matters”. It is the first University among others in the state of Gujarat in volunteering for the accreditation in the year 2000 and it was also given four stars by national Assessment and Accreditation Council. It has been accredited with a Grade B by the council in 2009.
The university has twenty five post graduate departments, 1 constituent college and 70 affiliated colleges. The post graduate studies includes science, commerce, art, management, pharmacy, engineering, home science, medicine, law, homeopathy etc. The university also provides diploma courses and certified courses. Under graduate programs are also included in the university.
Apart from the conventional curriculum of studies in the classrooms, other methodologies like group discussions, seminars, industrial visits, projects, multimedia, audio visual studies are also encouraged by the University for More Effective teaching.
The university provides a number of facilities to its students like the university library which is known as Bhaikaka Library. It is a very large building with rooms which are highly spacious for the purpose of reading. It has a health centre to take care of the health of the students and also the teaching and non teaching staff. There is a University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau which provides information about employment and also assists the students which are seeking for employment by giving them vocational guidance in choosing a career suitable to them, information on the various scholarships and other trainings, counselling on individual basis to handle the problems faced by the students.
