Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology was established in the year 2000 on the 2nd of October as a full-fledged university. The university holds the honor of being the first agricultural university of the 21st century and the third millennium. The university was established with the responsibility of integrating educational extension and research in such a way that rural people can be served. The honorable Chief Minister of the state of Uttar Pradesh established the university.  The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission and it is funded and approved by the ICAR of Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Government of Uttar Pradesh has entrusted the university with the responsibility of making rural community and agriculture development in the four divisions namely Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut, Saharanpur, which includes 15 districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh State in India has a total of nine agricultural zones, of which three zones are coming under the jurisdiction of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology. The university offers Bachelor of Science (hons.) in agriculture, Bachelor of Technology in biotechnology, Bachelor of Veterinary science and animal husbandry, agricultural process and food engineering, PG degrees in ten different subjects of agriculture, one discipline of bio-technology and doctoral courses in nine different disciplines of agriculture through its constituent colleges. The central library functioning under the university has a wide collection of books under different subjects like agronomy, agricultural engineering & food technology, animal science, biotechnology, entomology, plant breeding & genetics, soil science, basic science and several other general books so as to enable the students and staff members to get a wide knowledge.
