Textile Engineering is an area which involves the application of methodical and engineering values into the design and control of textile industry.  This includes aspects like fiber, textile, clothing, goods and equipments etc. Most of them are either natural or man-made materials, dealings of resources with machines, safety and physical condition, power management, and waste and contamination management.

Qualifying Exam

As to pursue a career in textile engineering, a candidate needs to have a bachelor’s degree in B.Tech or B.E chemical or textile engineering. There are national level examinations like AIEEE, JEE etc which applicants must pass as to get admission to these courses. Students are given hands on experience in plant designing and layout, machine and wet process designing, scheming and developing new textile products.

Who is eligible to apply?

Candidates who have successfully completed 10+2, with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and preferably Biology are eligible to apply for the course. In addition to this, they have to quality in the entrance exam conducted by recognized board.

How to prepare for exam and interview?

Choose a college specializing in textile management and technology. After completing B.Tech try to get a Masters in the same field. Work as an intern as to get experience in the field while in college. Majority of universities offer internship programs for academic credit. Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. This is an exam which measures the minimum competency to enter the engineering profession and gain a little work experience after completing the course. Try to be up-to-date with new and advanced technology.

There are lots of career opportunities available in this field of study. There are many traditional companies one can approach for jobs like upholstery or apparel companies. Also there are new developments like fiber-engineered medical products along with architectural and scientific applications.
