M. Pharm (Pharmacognosy) is one of famous branches in pharmacy. The programme is a two-year full time one. The course comprises of detailed study of medicinal plant biotechnology, advanced pharmaceutical analysis, phytochemistry, phytochemistry practicals, advanced pharmacognosy, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

A student holding a B.Pharm degree or its equivalent is eligible for the post graduate programme. It is indeed important to meet the minimum percentage criteria which differ across colleges. It is always good to have work experience prior to applying for the course.

Course Outlook

M.Pharm in Pharmacogonosy is an intensive programme of two years which includes topics like Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy, Advanced Pharmaceutical Analysis, Herbal drug development & Standardization Practicals, General introduction to the importance of Pharmacognosy in herbal drug industry, etc. the course comprises of a lot of theory combined with practical work following each unit to gain hands on experience while dealing with new concepts.

Job prospects

The post graduates have ample opportunities in both the government as well as the private sector. A number of pharmaceutical companies are hiring post graduates from the field. The recruitment is mainly due to campus recruitment or job fair.
