Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya was established on March 4, 1902 under the Government of India. The university is a deemed university which is located in the city of Haridwar. It has a rural as well urban campus. Mr. S. K. Sharma is the chancellor of the university while Professor S. Kumar is the Vice Chancellor of the university. The university is affiliated to UGC. The university was actually established by Swami Shraddhanand. The main aim of the Swami Shraddhanand was to revive the ancient Hindu Hindu educational system of gurukuls.
