Uttarakhand Technical University was established in the year 2004 after the establishment of the state of Uttarakhand with the objective of enhancing and propagating the level of technical education in the state of Uttarakhand. The university is shortly called as UTU and it offers education in the faculties of computer science & technology, business management, architecture, information technology, business administration, hotel management & catering, pharmacy, medical sciences and engineering. All the under graduation courses offered by the university extends to a period of four years, while for the B. Arch course alone, it is five years. A number of colleges offering technical education spread over the whole state of Uttarakhand are affiliated to the university. The university admits students to the different courses based on the performance of the students in the state common entrance examination, which is conducted every year during the month of June and issue of forms for the entrance examination begins in the month of April every year.
