Post Master General - How to become a Post Master General?
A Post Master General is an official, who is in charge of the Post Office. Those who have the required qualifications and cleared the entrance tests conducted for the purpose can become Post Master Generals in Post Offices. A Postmaster General is responsible to manage all the day-to-day operations of a Post Office. He is like a CEO in a company. In addition to the administrative and management duties, these professionals have to function within a budget. Other duties of a Post Master General include hiring, training and supervising postal employees.
Qualifying Exam
The prerequisite criterion to turn out to be a Post Master General is a graduation or Associate’s degree in Business Management. Aspirants who have conceded the Bachelors’ Degree in Public Administration or related subjects are also qualified. They should have completed the course from a certified University. Those who have passed their post graduation in the relevant subjects may have much preference. Post Master Generals are appointed in Post Offices through promotions. There is no direct recruitment for the job. Lower-level employees can become the same by way of attending tests for promotions for higher grades and in accordance with their seniority.
Who is eligible to apply?
Aspirants who have conceded the intermediate course from any discipline can pursue the graduation course. However, they should have passed the course from a acknowledged Board. Graduates in Business Management, Public Administration or related fields can apply for the postgraduate studies in the relevant fields. The State Government conducts various tests for recruiting eligible professionals into the postal authority. Those who clear the tests can become postal employees. Being a part of the Postal department, they can apply for the Post Master General’s vacancies as the recruitment for the post is made through work experience and seniority. However, professionals should qualify the eligibility criterions to become a Post Master General.
How to prepare for exam and interview?
The Postal authority conducts many examinations. In all the tests, there will be common awareness, current affairs and aptitude questions. They can procure preceding years’ question papers for the test from leading bookstores for reference. Aspirants can also attend preliminary tests conducted by reliable websites so as to get rid of exam fears. By self-evaluation, they may be able to identify their weaker portions.
