Cognizant Technology Solutions is one of the leading software firms. The company serves more than 500 clients who are spread in different continents. The company offers many job opportunities for the talented and qualified candidates in India as well as in the customer locations in other countries such as U.S and Europe.

For getting an employment in the company the candidates can first send their resume to the company’s official website. The recruitment process of Cognizant is explained here.

Cognizant Placement Test

Like all other companies’ recruitment drive, Cognizant also organizes a written test initially. Once candidates apply to Cognizant, the shortlisted candidates will be called for the written test.  The recruitment process includes three stages – Written test, technical interview and HR interview.

The written test comprises around 55 to 60 questions in total which have to be attempted in one hour. The syllabus will be on the topics from the verbal and non-verbal sections.. The questions are of objective type. If the candidates score the more than 25 to 30 questions correctly there may be chances for them to be short listed for the further processes.

Cognizant Placement Interview

The next process after the written test is the interview session. There will be two rounds, technical interview and HR interview. This round will be for a maximum of one hour. In the technical interview session candidates will be questioned on the subjects they have studied throughout their academic studies. That is the topics may cover various core subjects according to the discipline of the candidates. The students can expect questions on software related subjects like C, C++, Java, DBMS, etc.

The next is the HR interview. This session includes questions on general information such as the candidates’ academics, about family, their aim, hobbies, etc. Sometimes they will be asked to question the interviewers.

Cognizant Placement Test Preparation Tips

As said earlier, the placement test will include approximately 55 questions. Of the total questions, 30 questions are based on the analytical sessions and 25 questions based on the verbal ability. There will be a cut off for this test. Students qualifying the test will be called for the next procedures. Candidates should be fast enough to answer the questions correctly.

They will find the analytical section easy and can be answered within 30 minutes if they have prepared well in this. They should practice on all types of questions in this section. This can be understood through the previous placement papers of the company. The verbal section includes reading comprehension, etc. The basic knowledge in English is enough for answering this section.

Many books on verbal and non-verbal ability like R.S Aggarwal’s verbal and non-verbal ability are available in the market. Candidates can buy them and refer while preparing for the examination. They must collect the previous question papers and solve them. This will help them to understand about the question types.

Cognizant Placement Interview Preparation Tips

The main factor while attending interview is that candidates must able to communicate fluently in English, even if they are not confident about the grammar. They must answer all questions with confidence. They should stand firmly in what they have answered, since the interviewer may confuse them sometimes. They should always be bold enough and react in the same way in all situations. They should never argue with the interviewer about any matter.
