Engineering students of Mumbai University during the 2nd semester of the course have to answer Drawing paper. It is one of the toughest papers since all the answers have to be presented by drawing complex diagrams.

Paper pattern

There are five questions in the paper and all the five have to be answered. There is not option for choosing. Answering has to be done by presenting diagrams and only drawing pencils can be used for answering the questions. There are no sections in the question paper. The candidates can make assumption when answering the questions, if necessary. The candidates have to state the assumption they have made in the answer paper. All the questions are divided into four sub questions.

Marking scheme

There are five questions in the paper and all of them have to be answered by the candidates. The paper is for a total of 100 marks. Marks allotted to the five questions and the sub questions differ depending on the type of question asked. Marks are allotted for cleanliness of the diagrams.

Duration of the paper

The candidates are allowed 4 hours for completing the examination. To complete the paper in the allotted time, regular practice is required. Without practicing, the paper will prove to be tough.

About the subject

The subject is all about drawing. The diagrams in the subject are related to various machines. Drawing skills are requisite for this subject and can be attained by practicing regularly. In certain question, disassembled parts of a machine will be printed on the question paper. Depending on the instructions, the candidates have to draw the diagram of the assembled machine. This requires a lot of observation and practice. The best way to prepare for the exam is by referring to previous year question papers.
