Kuvempu University is one of the very best universities in the country where courses in various streams are offered. Students from all over the country come to this university to study various courses. The university offers courses in B.com, B.Sc, B.A and many other courses. B.sc botany students of the university during the third year of the course have to learn morphology, taxonomy of angiosperms, economic botany and cytogenetics and at the end of the year, they have to take its exam.

Pattern of the question paper

This is a pure biology subject and is mainly regarding genetics and the way in which the organs of an organism functions. This is a very important paper as far as botany students are concerned. The paper is purely descriptive and there are no objective questions. The paper does not contain any sections. There are totally four questions in the paper.All the four questions need to be answered by the candidates. Each question is divided into sub questions and internal choices are available within each question. Within the first question, there are 10 short answer type questions and all of them have to be answered. Question 2 consists of seven short answer type questions and out of them any five have to be answered.  Question 3 consists of six questions and five of them have to be answered. Question 4 consists of four questions and three of them have to be answered. Most of the questions in the paper need to be answered with a diagram.

Marks allotted

The paper is of three hours duration excluding 15 minutes of reading time. The paper is for a total of 85 marks and the candidates need to score 35% to pass.

Preparation Tips:

Now the best thing to do would be to prepare the paper from the start of the semester itself, which most of the students like to keep it for the end. This paper also needs you to go in to the depth and learn several terminologies which in case if you start at the last would become quite a trouble. This is what you should from the beginning, but when the exam is near you can start practicing from previous year’s questions papers as this will give you an idea of the paper as well as a chance to score well in this paper.
