Before the year 1954, there was no formal recruitment agency in the state of J & K and in the year 1954 on the 31st of December a public service recruitment board was established. After this when the constitution of Jammu & Kashmir state came into existence on the 26th of January 1957, Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission came into existence and it is shortly called as JKPSC.

Recruitment by JKPSC:

Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission calls for applications from permanent residents of the state of Jammu & Kashmir for the position of Junior Scale officers for the J & K Administrative Services. Some of the details regarding the notification issued by the department are given below:

Name of the Service: Junior Scale of J & K Administrative Service

Number of Vacancies: Total number of Vacancies is 117, which is divided as follows:

• OM – 65

• RBA – 24

• SC – 09

• ST – 12

• LAC – 04

• PHC horizontal reservation  - 03

Pay Scale: Candidates will be appointed under PB – 2 at a pay scale of Rs.9300-34800 plus a GP of Rs.4800

Eligibility:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must be UG degree holders from a recognized university or they must have appeared for the final examination on or before the last date of application for preliminary examination.

Age: Candidates must be between the age group of 21 and 35 years of age as on the 1st of January 2011. In other words, candidates born between 1st of Jan 1976 and 01st of Jan 1990 are eligible to apply. Application fee:

The cost of application is Rs.800 for open category candidates and Rs.550 for reserved category candidates mentioned above.

Duly filled in application along with essential copies of documents and DD for examination fee should be deposited in any of the designated branches of the J & K Bank. Forms will not be accepted in the PSC office.

Selection procedure:

The selection process will include preliminary examination for which the applications as invited and this will be followed by main examination for qualifying candidates.
