Ministry of Environment and Forests is functioning under the Government of India and this ministry is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, promoting and planning the implementation of forestry and environmental programmes of the country. Its main functions involve survey and conservation of the fauna of India, flora of India, land degradation mitigation, afforestation, control and prevention of pollution.
The ministry is also responsible for administration of the National Parks of India.
