Agartala Government Medical College is located in the campus of G.B. Pant Hospital in a building that is newly constructed. The college is fully equipped with intercom facilities, cafeteria, common room, central library, lecture theatres, dissection theatres, laboratories, etc…  The college is affiliated to the Tripura University and it is approved by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Medical Council of India.

Course Details:

Agartala Government Medical College offers MBBS Course and the duration of this course is four-and-half years with an internship period of one year. Every year, the college commences its admission on the middle of July and classes commence from the first week of August. The first MBBS course in the college covers subject like biochemistry, physiology and anatomy, second MBBS covers forensic medicine, microbiology, pathology and pharmacology subjects, while the third semester includes gynecology & pediatrics, surgery, general medicine, community & ENT medicine and ophthalmology.

Eligibility requirement:

Age: For seeking admission to the MBBS course offered by Agartala Government Medical College, candidates must have competed 17 years of age on the 31st December of the year in which the candidate is seeking admission. For this purpose, the college will take the school leaving certificate/10th standard certificate/madhyamik certificate as authentic documents for each proof.

Education: Candidates must have completed their higher secondary or the Indian School certificate examination equivalent to 10+2 with biology, chemistry and physics subjects with English as a subject. They must have secured not less than 50% of marks in the qualifying examination in physics, chemistry and biology subjects, which is 40% for reserved category candidates.

Admission Procedure:

Candidates belonging to the state of Tripura will have to get through the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Board of Joint Entrance Examination of Tripura and admission will be on the basis of the merit list prepared by the counseling committee of joint entrance exam constituted by the Government of Tripura.

Reservation of seats:

The total intake capacity of Agartala Government Medical College for the MBBS course offered is 100 students per year. Out of the 100 seats, 75 seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the state of Tripura, 15 seats are all-India quota seats and remaining 10 seats are allocated by the Government of Tripura as a gesture for candidates belonging to North-Eastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram.

Scholarship & Stipend:

The college offers eligible SC/ST candidates with post matric scholarship according to the guidelines of the Indian Government and the scholarship is permitted by the Department of SC & OBC Welfare and ST Welfare of Tripura Government. In addition, these students are also offered with North Eastern Council Merit Stipend if they maintain good academic record in their MBBS course.
