Diploma holders in Polymer Engineering or related subjects have the provision to get into engineering programs in the subject through lateral entry programs offered by Kerala University. Through this scheme, students can get in to 2nd year of the engineering studies. They have to study only three years to pursue the Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Engineering.

Eligibility for Polymer Engineering through Lateral Entry in Kerala University

Those candidates who possess a pass certificate in Diploma program conducted by the State Board of Technical Education or equivalent is eligible to apply for lateral entry program. They must have 60% marks in this qualifying examination. SEBC candidates are offered with 5% relaxation in marks specified as qualification criteria. Only those candidates below 28 years of age are eligible to apply for lateral entry. Admission of Non – Keralites is restricted to self-managed institutions only. Final year College going students who intend to attend the last semester examination are also eligible to apply.

Reservation for Lateral Entry in Kerala University

Out of the total seats offered for lateral entry:

  • 15% seats will be kept aside for Management (Private Colleges).
  • 50% seats are to be filled by the DTE
  • 50% is reserved under management if the institutions are self-financed.

Applying for Polymer Engineering through Lateral Entry in Kerala University

The application forms can be obtained from the various Distribution Centres specified in the information brochure. General category candidates have to pay an amount of Rs, 500/- to procure the application forms. Those belonging to reserved category have to pay an amount of Rs. 250/- to collect the application forms. This fee can be submitted in the form of DD. It should be taken from a Nationalized Bank in the name of Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology.

The Entrance exam for lateral entry must include questions based on the first year syllabus of the Engineering program. To get through this entrance test the candidate must score a cut off of 20% marks.

  • Kozhikode
  • Eranakulam
