Re: Which course should I take after completing diploma in electronics and communication?
One of best options for you is engineering degree in ECE. The course can be opted in other interested subjects like mechanical engineering or civil engineering. Admissions are possible through lateral entry scheme. University level and state level entrance test are conducted for the purpose. Calicut University, Thapar University, etc often conducts lateral entry entrance test.

Re: Which course should I take after completing diploma in electronics and communication?
Since you have completed diploma in engineering, the most obvious choice will be Bachelor of Technology course through the lateral entry scheme. This scheme will make the B.Tech course's duration 3 years instead of 4 years.
Actually the lateral entry gives diploma holders admission in the second year of B.tech. It is very common among the diploma holders to take admission for B.Tech course through the lateral entry scheme. Since you have completed diploma in Electronics and Communication, choose the same course in B.Tech as well. There are two reasons for doing this. Firstly, changing the course could make it difficult to cope with new course and secondly Electronics and Communications is one of the best branches of Engineering. You can make a career in various fields like IT, Telecommunications, Consumer Electronics etc. Besides there are plenty of opportunitie in government sector as well. Public Sector Undertaking and Indian Engineering Service as just couple of examples. Almost all the PSU companies hire Electronics and Communication Engineers. For admission in B.Tech through lateral entry, you will have to appear for the Lateral Entry Engineering Test. But to do so you must have 60 percent marks in the diploma course. There are number of colleges that offer admission through Lateral Entry Engineering Test. But it does not include IITs and NITs. Both these institutions do not offer admission through lateral entry therefore you can't take admission in these colleges. It should be noted that Lateral Entry Engineering Test is not the only entrance exam for lateral entry. There are other entrance exams as well some of which are conducted by the colleges separately. |

Hi Guest,
After completing diploma in ECE, it is better to go for B.Tech in the same course as there are lots of opportunities for pursuing the course. The candidates passing B.Tech in ECE are having lots of opportunities in different fields so it will be a smart move to go for B.Tech in the course. Thank you, All the best. |
