Those aspirants who have completed diploma in Electronics and Communication are eligible to apply for lateral entry programs offered under Calicut University. They have to pass an entrance examination conducted by Directorate of Technical Education to get an entry in to the 2nd year of the 4-year Engineering graduate program. Calicut University follows certain rules and regulations for the admission process.

Eligibility for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering Lateral Entry in Calicut University

Candidates who have passed three-year diploma program in Electronics and Communication from State Board of Technical Education or any other recognized institution is eligible to apply for lateral entry program. Aspirants coming under general category must possess 60% and above marks in the qualifying diploma program. But those candidates coming under SC/ST need to possess a minimum of 50% marks only. The students who are pursuing final year diploma program are also eligible to apply for lateral entry program. Those who are under 25 years of age are eligible to apply for the lateral entry program under Calicut University.

Reservation for Lateral Entry in Calicut University

Out of the total sanctioned seats, 85% is available for Government and Management Quota. The rest of the available seats are set aside for students of NRI category and aspirants of the lateral entry scheme. 10% of the total seats are reserved for lateral entry candidates. Anyway, admissions are on the basis of the marks scored in the entrance examinations conducted by Directorate of Technical Education. Those seats, which are not filled under NRI or lateral entry, will be included in to the pool of management seats.

Applying for B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering Lateral Entry in Calicut University

Aspirants who want to obtain an admission in Electronics and Communication Engineering Lateral Entry in Calicut University has to undergo an entrance examination conducted by Directorate of Technical Education. This test may include questions on topics covered under diploma program in Electronics and Communication. Those who secure sufficient marks in the test as decided by the University can expect an admission in any of the Colleges conducting Lateral entry programs under Calicut University.

The most important advantage in lateral entry program is that students need not study the first year of B Tech as they have studied all the basic facts on Electronics through diploma program.
