Technician Apprentice - Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC)
Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) has its origin in the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station shortly called as TERLS, which became operational in the year 1963 on the 21st of November. After the death of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the whole complex was named after him and it is functioning from the city of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
Recruitment by VSSC:
VSSC has invited applications from eligible candidates for the position of Technician Apprentice, under the Apprentice Act 1961 from candidates coming under southern region like Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 166, which is divided among the different disciplines as follows:
• Automobile Engineering Post No. TA001 – 08
• Chemical Engineering/Petro-chemical Engineering Post No. TA002 – 25
• Civil Engineering Post No. TA003 – 08
• Computer Engineering/Computer Science Engineering Post No. TA004– 15
• Electrical Engineering/Electrical & Electronics Engineering Post No. TA005 – 10
• Electronics Engg./Applied Electronics/Electronics & Telecommunication/Electronics & Instrumentation/Electronics & Communication Engg./Electronics Production Technology Post No. TA006 – 40
• Instrumentation Technology/Instrumentation Control Engineering Post No. TA007 - 06
• Mechanical Engg. Post No. TA008 – 46
• Catering Technology & Hotel Management Post No. TA009 - 08
Period of Training: Selected candidates will be under training period for one year and they will be registered under Apprentices Act 1961. Candidates, who have completed their required degrees in the year 2010 and 2011 are only eligible for training positions.
Stipend: During the period of training, selected candidates will get a stipend of Rs.3000 per month.

For each of the aforesaid departments, candidates must have completed first-class diploma (three-year course) in appropriate branches from the Board of Technical Education or any state council established by the any of the southern states mentioned earlier or from a recognized university.
Age Requirement: Upper age limit is 35 years for general category candidates, 38 years for OBC, 40 years for SC/ST and 45 years for PH Candidates as on the 2nd of September 2011.

Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements will have to apply online through the website of VSSC at http://www.vssc.gov.in/internet/ from the 17th of August to 02nd of September. Once online application is made, candidates will be provided with an online registration number, which should be preserved for future. After applying online, printed copy of the application with a passport size photograph should be sent to the following address through speed post before the 15th of September 2011:

Sir, I would like to appear the entrance test to undergo B Tech Course in Avionics branch at ISRO Thiruvananthapuram.
