Eligibility

Admission to B.Tech program in Engineering Physics offered at IIT, Madras is based on the score obtained in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Candidates who have passed any of the qualifying examination given below can apply for the Joint Entrance Examination.

  • Plus two examination conducted by any recognized central or state board
  • Pre-University or Intermediate examination conducted by any recognized University or Board
  • Final examination of two year course conducted by Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination of London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka at the Advanced level
  • Senior Secondary School Examination held by the National Institute of Open Schooling
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
  • Higher School Certificate (H.S.C) Vocational Examination
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University
  • A diploma recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) or three year technical educational course from any state board
  • Any examination conducted in India or in any foreign country approved as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)

Candidates should also obtain a minimum percentage in the concerned qualifying examination to apply for the JEE. Minimum sixty percent marks should be needed for general and OBC category candidates. SC, ST and PD candidates should need minimum of fifty five percent marks.
