South Delhi is an administrative district in the NCT of Delhi and the district is bounded by the South West Delhi to the West, Gurgaon District of the state of Haryana to the southwest, Faridabad District of the state of Haryana to the southeast, New Delhi district to the north and by the Yamuna River to the east. The district had a population of 2,258,367 according to 2001 census and the district is spread over an area of 250 km2 with a population density of 9000 persons per km2. The district of south Delhi is divided into three subdivisions namely Kalkahi, Hauz Khas and Defence colony.
