Application details of ICAR entrance exam
ICAR acts as the central authority for conducting All India Entrance Exams for selecting candidates to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of agriculture. The objective of this exam is to fill up the seats available in various Agricultural Universities in India. Top scorers in undergraduate entrance exam are offered with National Talent Scholarships (NTS) where as top scorers in PG level entrance exam are awarded with Junior Research Fellowships (JRF).
Eligibility Criteria
For attending the entrance exams for undergraduate entrance exams, the candidate should have passed intermediate class exam. 12th class exam must be passed from a recognized educational institution with Science as the main subject. General category and OBC candidates should possess minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination. For SC/ST candidates the required percentile of marks is 40%.
Bachelor degree in the concerned area of Agriculture is required to attend the entrance test for PG programmes. The qualifying exam must be passed from a recognized institution with a minimum of 60% marks. For reserved category candidates, the required percentage is 50 only.
Exam Pattern
For UG entrance exams, there will be a total of 180 multiple choice questions. The questions will be from Physics Chemistry and Mathematics for technical courses. Entrance exams for courses like B.Sc, B.F.Sc, etc comprises of questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
For the entrance exam for PG courses carried out by ICAR, there will be a total of 150 multiple-choice questions and 10 match the following type questions.

- Date of UG & PG Entrance Examination: Third week of April
Application Procedure of ICAR Exam
The application forms can be obtained directly from the specific centres mentioned in the exam notification from ICAR. It can also be obtained from the ICAR institutions like CARI, Port Blair and NDRI, Karnal or via postal method. Forms can also be downloaded from the official website of ICAR.
Cost of Application form for UG Entrance Exam
- For General, OBC and UPS categories: Rs. 400/-
- For S.C., S.T. and P.H categories Rs. 200/-
Cost of Application form for PG Entrance Exam
- For General, OBC and UPS categories: Rs. 500/-
- For S.C., S.T. and P.H categories Rs. 250/-
The fees can be paid directly if the application form is collected through the centres of ICRI. In other cases, the fee amount must be paid in the form of demand draft. The filled up application form completed in all respects must be sent along with the demand draft before the last date.
