Exam Pattern and reference books for XAT

Xavier’s Aptitude Test or XAT is conducted by Xavier Labor Research Institute, Jamshedpur. Analytical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, etc are the topics covered under XAT. Thorough preparation is necessary to clear the test. Books like Logical and Analytical Reasoning by R. Gupta, Logical and Analytical Reasoning by R. Gupta, A Communicative Grammar of English by Geoffrey Leech, etc are some of the popular reference books.

Exam Pattern for XAT

XAT comprises of both objective as well as descriptive type questions. There will be a total of 200 questions which must be completed with in 140 minutes time period. There will be three sections in the test.

  • Analytical Reasoning & Decision Making
  • Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning
  • Data Interpretation & Quantitative Ability

Apart from this, there will be one essay model question which must be answered in 300 to 400 words. Separate time of 40 minutes is allotted for answering each of the three sections mentioned above. Time allotted for completing essay type question is 20 minutes.
