Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc Courses in Utkal University

Bachelor’s degree in the concerned subject is the basic eligibility required for admission. For admission to M.Sc in Statistics, degree holders in Mathematics or Statistics are eligible. Candidates having 50% marks at degree level and have studied Statistics/Mathematics as a subject will also be considered for admission.

Candidates seeking admission to M.Sc in Anthropology must be a bachelor degree holder in Anthropology. Aspirants who have completed bachelor’s degree in any of the following subjects are also eligible.

• Zoology
• Botany
• Biotechnology
• Micro-biology
• Geology

Apart from the eligibility mentioned above, degree holders in Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Political Science, History, and Geography can also have admission to the course. Such candidates should have studied Anthropology as a subject in graduation.

Similarly for admission to M.Sc in Geography, candidate must be a bachelor degree holder with Geography as main or optional subject.

Minimum 50% marks at graduate level is mandatory for candidates seeking admission to sponsored M.Sc programs.

Admission Process for M.Sc Courses in Utkal University

Admission to all M.Sc courses except M.Sc in Biotechnology is offered on the basis of entrance exam conducted by Utkal University. Syllabus for the exam will be based on the topics covered under bachelor level studies. Performance of the candidate in qualifying exam will also be considered during selection process.

Admissions to M.Sc in Computer Science are offered purely on the basis of entrance test. Those who seek admission to M.Sc in Biotechnology must qualify JNU test to have admission.

Applications for admissions can be submitted either through online or offline method. Those who are applying through online method should send the printed copy of application form to the address of Utkal University. Application fee for attending the entrance test is Rs. 400/-. The fee must be paid through any branches of SBI in the form of DD. DD along with other necessary documents must be send along with the application form.
