Thapar University, Pune University, Shivaji University, etc carry out entrance test for selecting candidates to M.Sc in Microbiology course. Apart from these Universities, colleges like Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Abasaheb Garware College, etc also conducts entrance tests for selection process. Eligibility Criteria and exam pattern for entrance test varies with each University/Institute.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc in Microbiology Entrance Exam

Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology is the minimum eligibility requirement so as to apply for this course. Other than this, candidates who have completed their degree course in Life Sciences, B.Pharm, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Medical Sciences, etc are also eligible for admission in Thapar University. Such candidates must possess minimum 50% marks in graduation.

B.Sc holders with minimum 50% marks are eligible for admission in Sivaji University. Candidates seeking admission to Pune University should have completed their B.Sc degree from Pune University with Microbiology as the main subject. Science graduates from other Universities who have studied Microbiology as a subject can also apply.

Exam Pattern for M.Sc in Microbiology Entrance Exam

There will be two sections for the entrance exam conducted by Thapar University. The test is carried out in objective model which must be completed with in time period of 1 and half hours. There will be 75 questions for the test carrying one mark each. Section I covers questions from Chemistry. Section II is optional and the same covers questions from the following topics.

• Biological Sciences
• Earth Sciences
• Mathematics and Physics

Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce under Pune University also conducts entrance test for selection process. Questions for the entrance test are based on B.Sc degree in Microbiology offered at Pune University. The test comprises of objective model questions that must be completed with in 2 hours time duration. Maximum marks for the entrance test is 100.

Entrance test for M.Sc in Microbiology conducted by Department of Microbiology, Pune University comprises of 50 questions. Total marks allotted for this objective model test is 100. Each correct answer carries two marks where as one mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar conducts a single entrance test for selection of candidates to M.Sc in Microbiology and M.Sc Biotechnology course. The test comprises of 100 objective type questions that must be completed with in 2 hour time duration. The test covers questions from topics on Cellular Organization, Inheritance Biology, Applied Biology, System physiology, etc.

Abasaheb Garware College, Pune is another institution that conducts similar entrance exam. In this test there will be questions to measure the IQ and aptitude of the candidate along with subject related questions.
