Details on Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam
Recruitment of Special Class Railway Apprentice is conducted on the basis of scores obtained in written test as well as personal interview. A pass in higher secondary examination with second class mark is the basic qualification for this exam. Candidates between the age limit of 17 and 21 years are eligible for this exam.
Eligibility Criterion for Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam
Candidates who have passed higher secondary examination from a recognized board of studies approved by the Government of India are eligible to apply for this exam. They should have studied Mathematics as a compulsory subject and Physics or Chemistry as optional subject. Candidates are required to secure a minimum of second class marks in their qualifying examination. Apart from this, candidates who have completed graduation in Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics / Chemistry as optional subject are also eligible to apply.
Candidates who have passed the Pre-Engineering Examination of a University, approved by Government of India with second class marks are eligible for admission. Candidates who have passed the first year exam of four year engineering courses are also eligible. They are required to complete a minimum of 17 years of age at the time application. Upper age limit for the exam is 21 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories can avail relaxation in age.
Application Procedure for Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam
Eligible candidates who wish to write the exam are required to apply online from the official website of UPSC. Application fee is Rs. 100/-. Candidates can make the fee payment in any branch of State Bank of India across the country by cash. Apart from this, candidates can pay the fee by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Master Credit/ Visa/ Debit Card. Reserved categories candidates and female candidates need not pay the application fee.
Selection Procedure for Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam
Recruitment is on the basis of composite scores obtained by the candidates in written test as well as personal interview. The written examination is conducted for 600 marks. There will be three papers in written exam. Paper 1 includes questions from English, General Knowledge and Psychological Test. Paper 2 contains questions from Physics and Chemistry. The final paper contains questions from Mathematics. Time allotted for each paper is 2 hours. Each section carries 200 marks. Candidates who have cleared the written test will be shortlisted for interview. Maximum marks allotted for personal interview is 200.
