Governmental bodies like Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, and Ministry of Urban Development offer scholarships for M.Tech students in IIT, Bombay. BRNS fellowship students can avail amount of Rs. 20,000/- per month along with amounts for contingency and educational material allowance. M.Tech holders in the role of visiting faculty or guest lecturer can avail an amount of Rs. 10,000/- as honorarium under the Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation fellowship scheme.

Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences Scholarship
DAE (Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences) (DGFS) (BRNS): Candidates are selected from the beginning of first semester by the consent of DAE in BARC. Such students will be offered with an amount of Rs. 20,000/- per month as scholarship amount. The tuition fees (Rs. 5000/-) paid by the student for every semester is reimbursed, (paid one time for entire programme) as Educational Material Allowance. An amount of Rs. 25,000/- is provided as contingency expenditure for each student.
Atomic Energy Regulatory Board Scholarship
AERB (Atomic Energy Regulatory Board): Candidates are selected from the beginning of first semester by the consent of AERB based on an interview. The students will get an amount of Rs. 20,000/- per month along with the following benefits.
- The total fees paid at the time of admission by the students are reimbursed
- The tuition fees paid by the students for every semester is reimbursed
- Book allowance of Rs. 5000/- (paid one time during the course)
Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Scholarship
Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (CPHEEO): Candidates are selected directly during the time of admission. The students will get an amount of Rs. 2000/- per month along with the following benefits.
- Rs. 10,000/- as 2 years tuition fees
- Rs. 300/- per semester as exam fees (total amount is Rs. 1200/- for all semester)
- Rs. 10,000/- for 2 years as contingency grant
- Rs. 10,000/- as honorarium to visiting faculty or guest as per the rule
Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission Scholarship
Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC): Candidates are selected by IITB’s normal admission/selection procedure. The students will get an amount of Rs. 8000/- per month along with the following benefits
- Rs. 5000/- per semester as tuition fees
- Rs. 15,000/- during the course as TA, DA, contingency, report preparation etc
- 15% of the total amount as consumables, contingency, miscellaneous etc

These government scholarships can be properly utilized by all eligible candidates who are from financially poor background. Students qualified for government scholarship will be able to get more amount as allowance, TA, DA etc, when compared to private scholarship qualifiers.
