National Institute of Technology (NIT), Karnataka offers admission to M.Tech courses in subjects such as Communication Engineering, Industrial Pollution Control, Materials Engineering, Process Metallurgy, and VLSI Design. Engineering graduates or M.Sc degree holders in the concerned subject with a minimum of 60% marks can seek admission on the basis of GATE score. Admission Process for M.Tech in NIT, Karnataka

Engineering graduates or M.Sc degree holders in the concerned subject with a minimum of 60% marks are eligible to apply. Five percent relaxation in marks is given for reserved category candidates and such candidates should hold a minimum of 55% marks only. Admissions are done on the basis of GATE through a centralized counseling process for M.Tech (CCMT), carried out at MNIT, Jaipur. Students joining M.Tech will be of any of the following status.

  • Student on GATE-scholarship
  • Sponsored student on QIP
  • Sponsored student from Industry or other organizations including Educational Institutions
  • Non-sponsored non-scholarship student
  • Sponsored staff of NITK/selected as Teaching Assistant of NITK (Internal registrant)

Eligibility criteria for M.Tech (Research) are same as that for M.Tech regular course. Such students will be of any of the following status.

  • Student on GATE-scholarship
  • Non-sponsored non-scholarship student
  • Sponsored student from Industry or other organizations (external registration)

Marks obtained in GATE exam is considered for admission.

Semester I

  • Tuition fee – Rs.17500 /-
  • Other Fees – Rs. 8000/-
  • Students Activity Council – Rs. 975/-
  • Group Insurance coverage of students – Rs. 350/-
  • Security Deposit (refundable) – Rs. 4000/-
  • Institute Development Contribution (IDC) - Rs. 5000/-
  • Alumni Association - Rs. 1000/-
  • Admission Fees - Rs. 500/-
  • Hostel Rent- Rs. 4000/-

Semester II

  • Tuition fee – Rs.17500 /-
  • Institute Development Contribution (IDC) - Rs. 5000/-
  • Hostel Rent- Rs. 4000/-

Semester III

  • Tuition fee – Rs.17500 /-
  • Other Fees – Rs. 8000/-
  • Students Activity Council – Rs. 975/-
  • Group Insurance coverage of students – Rs. 350/-

Semester IV

  • Tuition fee – Rs.17500 /-
  • Hostel Rent- Rs. 5000/-

From second year onwards, the hostel rent increases by Rs.1000/-. This is due to the facility of single room accommodation rather than shared accommodation provided in first year.
