Admission Process for M.A (Social Work) in University of Delhi
Graduates with a minimum of 50% marks can pursue M.A (Social Work) under University of Delhi. Selection of eligible candidates is made through a three stage process, written test, Group Discussion, and Interview. All these stages for admission are organized by the Department of Social Work, University of Delhi. Analytical ability, general awareness, and written communication skills, etc of the candidate is basically evaluated in the written test.
Eligibility Criteria for M.A (Social Work) in University of Delhi
Bachelor degree of three year duration is the basic qualification required. The degree must be secured from any of the recognized Universities with a minimum of 55% marks. Graduates in social work need to have at least 50% marks only. In case of SC/ST candidates pass in graduation is enough to apply for the course. OBC and PWD candidates are offered with 10% and 5% (respectively) relaxation in the minimum percentage of marks (required). Final year students holding the required qualification are also eligible to apply. Age of the applicant must not be greater than 20 years.
Admission Procedure for M.A (Social Work) in University of Delhi
From the pool of applicants, selection of eligible candidates is made through a three stage process.
- Written test – 60% weightage
- Group Discussion – 15% weightage
- Interview – 25% weightage
Written test is conducted in English medium. It is designed in such a way as to determine the creative and imaginative abilities of students, their attitude towards social work, and their perception of the outer world. No prescribed syllabus is there for this two and half hour test. Questions are usually asked from any of the topics mentioned below.

- Comprehension of social-political and economic issues
A merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in written test. From that list prepared, first 340 candidates are considered for GD session. The session is carried out to evaluate the communication and team skills of the candidate. Their ability to contribute and conceptualize ideas is also discussed. Those who clear this session should attend the personnel interview, as the final stage of selection.
Application forms for attending the entrance test can be collected from the office of the Department of Social Work, Delhi University. Fee for obtaining the application form is Rs.650/-. Those who are collecting the application from University portal should sent a DD along with the filled up application. This DD must be of Rs.700/- taken in favor of the Registrar of the Delhi University and it must be payable at Delhi. Filled up applications must be submitted to the specified address of Delhi University before last date.
