In Delhi, PHd programmes in English are conducted by Universities like the Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Punjab University and the like. In most cases, the admission is through an Entrance Examination (with your 50% marks in MA, you are certainly eligible to sit in these entrance exams). For information in detail, check the websites of the individual universities.

If you have secured 55% or above in M.A. from any UGC-recognized university, you can apply for the entrance exam for Ph.D. in Delhi University. To know about the time of applying, visit the website www.englishdu.ac.in regularly. The entrance exam will be followed by a personal interview and next, a course work of six months. In the exam of the course work you have to secure 60% marks in order to be registered as a Ph.D. scholar. Only then you can start your Ph.D. works under the supervision of a professor in Delhi University. Best of luck!
