Annamalai University was established in the year 1929 in the state of Tamil Nadu. it is one of Asia’s largest residential university. The campus of the university along with the colleges, hostels and the playgrounds covers about more than a thousand acres. The university has been recognized by UGC. The present Vice-Chancellor of the university is Prof. Dr. M. Ramanathan. NAAC has accredited the university with an ‘A’ grade. The various courses offered by the university include the fields of Science, Arts, Engineering and Technology, Indian Languages, Fine arts, Education, Medicine, Dentistry, Agriculture etc.

The course details of the course M.A. in English for the first year exam are given below:

The subjects included in the course are:

1. English Literature from Chaucer to 1660
2. Romantic & Victorian Periods
3. Restoration & Eighteenth Century English Literature
4. American Literature
5. New Literatures in English

The exam is held every year. Duration of the exam is 3 hours. Total marks carried are 100. There are two sections in the paper- A and B. five questions from section A and three questions from section B are to be answered. All the questions carry equal marks. The same pattern is followed for all the subjects.
