Anna University came into existence during the year 1978 by amalgamating two technical institutions and three Technological Departments. The Anna University provides higher education in the fields of Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences. The university’s campuses located at Adyar, Chromepet and Taramani provides extensive higher education to the students. The University’s campus located at Taramani equips the Bioprocess laboratory donated by SPIC. The campus plans to include National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Entreprenuership Development Park, Mechatronics Institute, Sugar Research Institute, and Convention Centre in future. The university includes many departments like Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information and Communication Engineering, Management Sciences, Science and Humanities, Architecture and Planning.
