The Staff Selection Commission conducts the Assistants Grade Examination every year. The pattern of the exam is given below.

The exam is conducted in two phases. The first phase is a preliminary examination and the second phase is the main examination.

Preliminary examination:

The exam consists of objective type questions only. The total marks carried by the exam are 300. There are four sections in the paper. They are Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, Arithmetic and Language Paper. The Language Paper is either Hindi or English. All the sections carry 75 marks each. The language paper is of qualifying nature only. The marks obtained in this paper will not be considered for the merit list.

Main examination:

It is a conventional type test and carries 300 marks in total. There are two papers in the examination. Paper 1 is language comprehension. It is of 200 marks. There are two sections in this paper. The first section is General English and the second is Communication Skill.  The first section carries 50 marks and the second one carries 150 marks. it is a 3 hours duration paper. Paper 2 is the Arithmetic paper. The duration is 3 hours and the marks carried by the exam are 100.

Papers will be set in English and Hindi.
