Asutosh College was established in the year 1916 under the guidance of Sir Asutosh Mukherjee, who was a popular educationist, mathematician and who also worked as a Vice-Chancellor of the Calcutta University. Initially, the name of the college was South Suburban College and it was then renamed in honor of Sir Asutosh who passed away in the year 1924. The college is offering education under the affiliation of Calcutta University.
