Bihar Institute of Technology was set up in 1994 and is now one of the leading engineering colleges of the state with the approval of the AICTE. This college is associated with the Vinoba Bhave University. It is a premiere institute and offers both Graduate and Post-Graduate courses.

Courses Offered

There are 10 engineering disciplines and 4 interdisciplinary departments offered by the college at graduate as well as post graduate level. For the B. Tech degree course the following streams can be opted for: Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, Metallurgical Engineering and Mining Engineering.

Infrastructure

This institute is situated in the splendid city Sindri and covers an extensive area of 650 acres which is approximately equivalent to 2.6 sq. km. For all the ten branches of engineering offered by the college there is a separate building, laboratories and even the teaching staff are altogether different. Inside the campus there is an auditorium, a canteen, a recently built library, a gymnasium and all other fundamental amenities.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility Criteria

All the candidates seeking admission into the institute must qualify a state level written exam to be eligible for admission. Selection is done on the marks obtained in the exam.

The applicant should be an Indian citizen and must have qualified his/her Higher Secondary Examination with at least 55 % average marks.

The placement program of the college lures the leading industrial houses to visit the campus for providing jobs. The names of a few can be mentioned such as Aricent, TCS, Satyam, ITC InfoTech, Syntel, Tata Motors, Patni Computers, Tata Timken, Hindalco, ACC and Ispat.
