B.Tech in Mining engineering is a bachelor level course. B.Tech in Mining Engineering has considerable industrial interaction with all the major mining setup in India in terms of short period courses like Surface Mining, Mining Machinery etc. This branch of engineering is mainly concerned with the areas like Mine Fire and Explosion, Rock Mechanics, Mine Safety, and Reliability and the related Computer Application.
Eligibility Criteria
To pursue B.Tech in Mining engineering the students should have passed their higher secondary board exam from a recognized board in India with science ( physics, chemistry, math) subjects and English is compulsory for all and they should have at least acquired a minimum of 50% in aggregate. For seeking admission in this four year program students has to clear the competitive exams like AIEEE, JEE, BITS, WB-JEE etc. The admission procedure is strictly based on the merit of the individual.
Course Outlook
The course of B.Tech in Mining Engineering is a four year program. These four years are divided into four parts comprising of one year each and again each year is divided into duration of six months called a semester. At the end of each semester the students has to pass in the main university exam for being promoted to the next semester.
Job Prospects
After completing the B.Tech in Mining, the student can opt for the mining sector for jobs in various mining related and mining operational companies like SAIL (steel authority of India limited) and others. They can also opt for research in areas like Mines Safety, Strata Control and Rock Mechanics, Coal Mining, Surface Mining etc. They can also opt for the higher studies in this discipline like M.Tech and PhD.
