B.Tech in NIT, Jamshedpur National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur is one of the prominent technical institutions in India with the status of a deemed university. It was established in the year 1960 as Regional Institute of Technology. It was upgraded to National Institute of Technology in the year 2002.This Institution is completely under the control of Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India since the year 2003. This Institution offers various undergraduate and postgraduate technical courses. Four year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) program is one of the famous programs conducted in this Institute. Different types of B.Tech programs are offered in this Institute which is given below.

Structure of the B.Tech program
B.Tech program conducted in NIT, Jamshedpur is divided into eight semesters. At the end of each semester, there will be an end-term exam. There will be also mid-term exams, quiz and class tests. Quiz and class tests comes under teacher’s evaluation section. Teachers of this institution set up the question papers for all these tests and evaluate the answers. Academic section of this institution co-ordinate all the examination conducted in each semester.
Total hundred marks will be divided among end-term examination, mid-term examination and teacher’s evaluation. Thirty marks will be specified for mid-term examination and fifty marks will be specified for end-term examination. The remaining twenty marks will be specified for teacher’s evaluation section. Grades from Excellent (Ex) to Fail (F) will be awarded to the candidates based on their total marks obtained by adding the marks of all tests. Under Graduate program Evaluation Committee (UGPEC) assess the results before sending it to the Senate for approval. Students should maintain a CGPA of 6.0 to pursue their studies beyond first year of this course. Supplementary examinations will be conducted in the summer quarter.
Eligibility
Candidates who are applying for any B.Tech course in NIT, Jamshedpur should obtain good score in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). Total seats for these courses is equally divided among the candidates from the state where the NIT is located and those from other states. The intake of candidates is based on the rank obtained in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). Few seats will be reserved for the foreign candidates nominated by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi.
