Eligibility and admission process for M.Tech in Environmental Engineering
IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, Pondicherry University, Anna University, Delhi College of Engineering and Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad are some of the reputed institutes that offer M.Tech in Environmental Engineering. Admission to Post Graduate Programmes in Environmental Engineering is done on the basis of scores obtained in entrance exam. Institutions consider the score of national level common entrance exams such as GATE (or equivalent) for the admission process. Graduate level engineering degree in related subjects with good marks is the basic eligibility for this course.
Eligibility Criterion for M.Tech in Environmental Engineering
Candidates who seek admission to Master of Technology in Environmental Engineering should have passed Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in any of the following subjects.

- Mechanical Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Petroleum Engineering
- Petroleum Technology
- Petrochemicals Engineering
- Petroleum Refining & Petrochemicals Engineering
Apart from these, candidates who have completed post graduation programme in Applied Chemistry or Environmental Chemistry can also apply for this course. Candidates have to obtain a minimum of 55 % aggregate score in their qualifying exam. Candidates belonging to reserved category can avail relaxation in terms of marks and age as per the norms of government of India. There is no age limit for this course.
Admission procedure for M.Tech in Environmental Engineering
Most of the institutions conduct admission to this course on the basis of GATE score. Non GATE candidates can also apply for this course. Candidates with valid GATE score will be given preference over others in most of the institutions. Admission to non GATE candidates is carried out on the basis of entrance test, conducted by the respective institutions. The syllabus of the written test conducted by the institutions will be similar to that of the latest GATE exam. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 70 % marks in the written test and 30 % marks in personal interview to get selection. In case candidates have equal marks in entrance test, then admission will be based on the scores obtained in qualifying exam/ scores obtained in final semester exam or age of the candidate. Candidate who is older in age will be given priority.
Reputed institutions such as National Institute of Technology carry out admission to M.Tech in Environmental Engineering purely on the basis of GATE score. Many universities will have their own admission test.
