Eligibility Criteria for programmes offered by Central Universities
Central universities offer post graduation, integrated post graduation and research Programmes. M.A and M.Sc course are the post graduation course offered for which graduation is the minimum qualification required and age limit to apply is 24 years. For the integrated courses offered in arts and science stream 12th passouts who are not over 20 years of age can apply . Ph.D course are offered in English, Physics and Chemistry. Only candidates who have completed Masters course can apply.
Post graduation courses offered by Central Universities
The Central Universities offer M.A and M.Sc courses. The specialisations offered under M.A course are as follows:
- Classical Tamil
- Media and Communication
- English Studies
- Social Work in Mental Health
The specialisations offered under M.Sc courses are as follows:
- General Economics
- Actuarial Economics
- Financial Economics
- Applied Quantitative Finance
- Environmental Economics
The minimum qualification required for applying for all these courses is graduation. The minimum marks required for applying is 55%. For OBC the minimum marks required is 50% and SC/ST candidates who have secured minimum 45% marks can apply for these courses. The maximum age limit to apply for any of these courses is 24 years. The duration of the courses is 2 years.
Integrated courses offered by Central Universities
The Integrated courses offered by Central Universities are as follows:
Integrated M.A. Programme
- B.A/B.Sc B.Ed
Candidates who have completed 12th or equivalent in any area of specialisation can apply for the course. They should have secured minimum 60% marks. Candidates belonging to OBC can apply if they have secured minimum 55% marks and SC/ST candidates can apply if they have secured minimum 50% marks. The maximum age limit to apply for this course is 20 years and duration of the course is 4 years.
Integrated M.Sc Programme
- Economics
- Life Sciences
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Mathematics
12th pass outs can apply if they have secured minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany/ Zoology/ Computer Science. OBC candidates can avail 5% relaxation and SC/ST can avail 10% relaxation in this criteria. Candidates over 20 years of age are not eligible to apply. The duration of these integrated courses is 5 years.
Ph.D programmes offered by Central Universities
Central Universities offer Ph.D courses in area mentioned below
- Physics
- Chemistry
- English
Candidates who have completed Master’s course can apply for the Ph.D programmes. The minimum duration of the Master’s course should have been 2 years. Candidates should have secured minimum 55% marks with 5% relaxation for OBC candidates and 10% relaxation for SC/ST candidates. Consistently good academic record is a must. Candidates who have cleared UGC-NET will not need to appear for CUTN-RET. There is no age limit to apply for any of these programmes.
