dear frnd u have scored a very good score in aieee

definitely u will get good nit of any stream.

but i will suggest u to make ur line of interest to ur professional work.

petroleum industries are growing strongly day by day like RIL,ONGC,HP,IOC etc.

si it is not a bad line u can choose it as ur carrier.

all the best.

It all depends on whether after doing your petroleum engineering, whether you are ready to work in oil rigs and other potential petroleum sites. The job of a petroleum engineer is highly demanding and challenging. The salary for petroleum engineers is high when compared to their other counterparts. If you really enjoy that type of a job then probably you should join the petroleum engineering institute. The number of institutes offering this course is very less in India and there are high chances of getting a job through campus placements. If you are not interested in this type of a job, then NIT would be a good option.

dear friend

Yes, definately, Petroleum engineering is a good field. So if you are interested to get
admission in this field, then i will suggest you just go for it.

University of petroleum and energy studies, Dehradun is a very good college for doing b.tech in petroleum engineering. After completing this course, you will definately get
a good job in future because the placement of this college is very good.

Petroleum engineering is indeed a very good science stream also its scope is good and moreover you have got really appreciable marks that to in CBSE. I m damn sure that you will definitely have man job opportunities. Though it is not that familiar so people would discourage you but you have to be very stubborn at this stage because a little mistake in chosing career may lead you to great loss.
So simply follow your heart.
I am sure u will make correct decision.

Yes, its a good emerging field accommodating wide range of opportunities in public sector as well as private sector. Power, petroleum, energy etc are few of the domains that are recession proof as well as offers high pay scale...Moreover these are the industries which are having less competition in compare to other sectors.

m a student from pandit deendayal petroleum univrsty..
petroleum is a good field n jobs r also good.. but dere may sum tough jobs.. u ll get a gr8 exposure in this field.. u ll be member of international committes like
SPE(society of petroleum engineers). its a unique field so there is very less compitition so WE r only d cream and this matters a lot..
There are almost 5 lakh mechanical engineers, 2 lakhs Electronics engii n many more engineers graduated each year. And the cream in those lakhs are 10,000 students.. But in this field almost 1000 are expected to be graduated(240 from PDPU,80 ISM,30 MIT etc).. so this is only the cream..
jobs ll be decieded on your performance in the collge n the training u took in the companies..
outside india Petroleum engineers are paid a minimum of 50,000 dollars per year(2 years minimum experience)..
after 5 years of experience they are paid with a amount of 75,000 to 100,000 dollars..
but u have to work hard..
where as in other fields u have

you have an amazing rank in aieee... for this rank you should be able to take mechanical or civil engg in a good college.. i wouldnt advice you to take petroleum engg since its the specialisation too early at undergraduate level.. with mech or civil at UG level, you can get into the same jobs offered to petro engg..
doing petro limits your job opportunities, whereas mech and civil give a broader scope..

Yes,its true that Indian oil,Bharat petroleum and other companies recruits mechanical and chemical engineers too but they are paid half what a petroleum engineer gets.. just see upes website. 16 students got package of 10lakhs for job in india by Bharat petro and Hindustan petro..

For the challenging and risky jobs always employees get higher salary and so, petroleum engineers get high salary but
one has to see the working conditions, health matters , social life etc . Before joining the courses one has to check the
placement details of the senior students, otherwise you are confind to one type of jobs unlike the Mechanical,Electrical
etc which have greater range of employment opportunity.

The field which entertains you byou will call good and calling a field a good or bad will vary from individual to individual will vary so please don,t asks such silly questions.
If you are interested than go for it.
As far as scope there is good opportunity in this sector.
The way the demand for gas and petrol is increasing the same way individuals exper in this field are required and the demand is increasing.
Indian oil, All india ltd, HPCL, ONGC, BP, etc are the companies where ther are vacancies Private as well as publicc sector both provide handsome salary..
In this field there is huge demand for talented individuals.
The qulaified individuals have opportunity in foreign countries too..Diffeernt companies have here offices in foreign also.
So not only at national level but also on Internationa level too there is huge opportunity.

In this sector research too has much scope.
In this field of Rand D also you can go.
Indian Instutute of Petroleum has good opportunity for it.

Hi, I am a graduate engineer from UPES and placed with BHarat Petroleum with gud package , have been here for 2.5 ys. I will suggest all petroleum engineering aspirants to follow ur guts. This is highly specialised field, limited job opportunities in India, that too in remote petroleum sites and switching over is also not easy. Job is very challenging and there is no social life as well. Take some basic branch of engg( Civil, mechanical, electrical) in good college and you can go places and options are broader. Bcoz if u r fed with the job in petroleum industry after say 5 yrs , u have very less options to switch over to other jobs.

Hi Friend, I guess you are talking about B. Tech. (Chemical Engineering)
with specialization in Refining & Petrochemicals. Well both are good options , but among these two Petroleum Engineering may be better. As Oil and Gas program are their flagship programs, so they always try to provide best placement opportunities for the students of this stream. I am not sure about the average package for this branch but I've heard that for most of their programs, the average package lies somewhere in between 3-4 lakhs. They are also claiming that they would provide good placement to their students in coming years. So, don't miss such a good chance. Best of Luck!
