whats the scope for an geo-technical engineer in India

there is lot of scope for an geo technical engineer in India,he can join many lab for testing or join some mining companies

what is the salary that i can expect if i join any research company and please give me names of few research companies

you can expect an salary around 50,000 and also perks

See there is a lot scope in this field and being salary the case it depends on companies if ur going government its different or if u going in private its different

geotechnical engineering is one of the part in civil engineering.....scope of geotech is very good comparing with others.soil investigation is the work nature for geotech engineers.every building before constructions the soil should be investigated.......so that geotechnical engineering having great scope.

geotechnial engineers are sought by mining,metallurgical,petroleum firms and also by research labs specialising in same...you can also go for teaching and space, volcanic research,seismology etc

what is dredging?does it comes under geotechnical engineering?and also please tell me what are its scope ?

Dredging is an excavation activity or operation usually carried out at least partly underwater, in shallow seas or fresh water areas with the purpose of gathering up bottom sediments and disposing of them at a different location.
This technique is often used to keep waterways navigable. It is also used as a way to replenish sand on some public beaches, where too much sand has been lost because of coastal erosion. Dredging is also used as a technique for fishing for certain species of edible clams and crabs, see fishing dredge.

That's good news, because then you can try out different jobs until you find the right fit. You may need to take additional courses to move into certain jobs, or you may get on-the-job training. And, if you want to expand your knowledge, you could get an engineering or geology degree. .............

there is a good scope in INDIA for every engineer
and in geotechnical engineering field there is really a very good scope
in beginning you can hope for 5-6 lakh par annum salary but after getting some experience you can get more good packages

dredging is an complete different field based on the basics of geotechnical engineering,
there is great scope for this field in the gulf countries and oil sector
pay is also very high

i think you should take post graduation in any of following courses
petroleum engineering
rock mechanics
soil exploration
any of these will do you lots of good to achieve your dream

At present i think there is not much scope.... but energy usage is shifting towards unconventional sources...its importance will increase.

This is achieved by determination of physical, mechanical and chemical properties of soils and rocks.....there is great scope for geotechnical engineering...
